Rishabh Pant’s first season as captain of the Lucknow Super Giants hasn’t gone well. Despite being signed for a record ₹27 crore, Pant has struggled both as a leader and with the bat. He has scored only 128 runs in 10 matches with a single half-century and has the lowest strike rate (99.22) among all batters with over 100 runs this season.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra expressed concern over Pant’s attitude on the field, calling him “disturbed” and not an ideal captain. Chopra pointed out that Pant’s animated body language suggests pressure is affecting his leadership.
With three league matches left and LSG still in contention for a playoff spot, Chopra noted that Pant will be closely watched, especially in the upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
